Ferrari has today revealed details and images of the fastest road-going Fezza yet: the 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO. Inspired by the track-only 599X (the O in GTO stands for Omologata – homologated), Ferrari’s new monster will make its official debut in Beijing later this month.
Powered by a slightly de-tuned version of the Enzo-derived 6.0 litre V12 powering the 599XX, the 599 GTO delivers 500kW at 8250rpm and 620Nm of torque at 6500rpm. In the regular 599, the V12 produces 40kW less, while the track-devouring 599XX offers 522kW.

The big V12 is mated to the same six-speed sequential transmission, although shift times have been reduced by 60ms.

The new GTO is claimed to cover the 0-100km/h run in just 3.35 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 335km/h. According to Ferrari, the new track-inspired 599 GTO lapped its Fiorano circuit in 1:24, making it one second faster around the track than the company’s hero car, the Enzo.
Braking is managed by lighter 398mm carbon-ceramic discs up front and 360mm at the rear. These are backed by improved ducting and pads, along with ‘wheel doughnuts’ – a disc outside the the main brake disc that keeps hot air exiting the wheel arch close to the body, reducing drag in the process.

The GTO’s 20-inch wheels are shod with 285mm tyres at the front and sizeable 315mm rubber at the rear.
As with the 599XX, Ferrari has employed a number of weight-saving techniques with the GTO. Through the use of carbon-fibre and other composite materials, the GTO weighs a good 84kg less than the regular 599 GTB Fiorano.

A new vented hood is featured, along with a purposeful rear diffuser – and a satin black/grey roof to help set it apart (if the aggressive body kit isn’t enough).
